Nice Tiffany & Co Sterling Silver Nail Buffer Tray c1907-1947
Presented is a nice sterling silver nail buffer with tray, by Tiffany & Co. This piece dates to around 1907-1947. The buffer material is light colored leather of some kind. The handle and tray are made from thick, heavy silver. Both the tray and the handle have a monogram in an interesting style of lettering, looks like 'MTLT' or maybe 'MGLG'.
The tray is in excellent condition, there are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The leather material of the buffer has some wear, as should be expected considering age. The handle has no dents, no splits, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The underside of the tray and the side of the buffer are stamped with the Tiffany & Co. hallmark, sterling 925-1000 and the initial 'M' for the company director between 1907-1947, John C. Moore II.
The tray is about 6 1/2 inches long by 3 1/4 inches wide by 1/2 an inch tall. The buffer is about 4 3/4 inches long by 1 5/8 inches wide by 1 5/8 inches tall.
The tray alone weighs 100.5 grams, and this weight is all silver. Obviously considering the silver handle on the buffer there is even more silver weight for both pieces, but with the attached buffer material we can't get a precise silver weight.
